Typhoon Nanmadol closes in on Taiwan

Typhoon Nanmadol is going to make landfall on Taiwan during the next few hours. The counties of Taitung and Pingtung along with the cities of Kaohsiung Tainan will be the most severely impacted. Nanmadol has winds in excess of 90 mph (145 km/h) and is likely to maintain that until landfall. After passing Taiwan, Namadol will be much weaker, but may still managed a second landfall in mainland China. In the Philippines clean-up has begun as Namadol's heavy rainfall causing flooding and winds caused a very destructive storm surge. More than 10 people are now being reported dead in the Philippines and that number is likely to rise.
