Emily formed overnight last night. The tropical storm is not expected to gain very much strength before it reaches Hispaniola; however, Santo Domingo, in the Dominican Republic, is likely to take a direct hit before the storm moves across the island. Continuing northeastward the storm would pass over Haiti before continuing on to the Bahamas and towards the United States east coast. Overall, damage from this system, at the moment, looks like it will be minimal, as Emily is unlikely to achieve hurricane status for more than a few hours.
