Emily swings west, now aiming for Haiti

Emily has swung westward, and is now likely to only graze the Dominican Republic. This means that the storm will likely make landfall along the southern peninsula of Haiti. Port-au-Prince will have to contend with tropical storm force winds, however it is unlikely that Emily will gain hurricane strength. After crossing Haiti, Emily will clip the western tip of Cuba, and then continue northward through the western Bahamas. Damage to infrastructure, fatalities and flooding are likely, primarily from Port-au-Prince westward along the the south peninsula. Heavy rainfall may allow for another round of infectious disease to spread across Haiti, though the chances of something as widespread as last years cholera outbreak are low.
